  Joseph Cross

Joseph’s professional career

in art started in 1978.

Through his art Joseph

conveys perspectives

on the way we look

at ourselves,

our environment,
and our lifestyles.

A self-taught artist,

Joseph works in oils, pastels, and pen and ink.

"Just Me and the Morning",

the winning piece for

Trout Unlimited Canada Artist of the Year 2007. Joseph has a few signed and numbered litho-graph Artist Proofs available at $250 + taxes. The original was a pastel painting.

Rowing out onto the calm lake early in the morning

to cast a few before any-one knows you're gone from the cabin.  A slight mist rising from the trees along the shoreline. Golden leaves resting on top of the water. Fall is in the air. Memories drift through my mind of other days, other lakes, and good times.

“Happy Toes, Happy Mind".

Available as a limited edition giclee.

On so many of our canoe trips, there are those days that come along and it seems like we are all quite content to let the world go by.  Taking time to rest, and relax. Getting in touch with a very deep happiness that goes from the tips of our toes to the top of our heads. Knowing too that by the end of the day we will have a good meal and a sound sleep – somewhere along the river.

"I'll Make it to the Canola Field!" has been repro-duced in giclees as well.

There is a beauty about the prairies - Land of the Living Skies and patchwork fields where a child can while away the day enjoying the expansiveness of her playground and the multitude of games that abound.

Maybe you too can say "I've done that!" and recall the freedom of summer days spent along the railroad tracks.

Joseph took some time in December to play with his pastels and created this painting titled

"Day Off".

It measures 16" x 20". Priced at $1,962

+ taxes,

framed in an Italian made, hand applied gold metal leaf plein- air frame.

Recent Projects & Commissions: In 2006 Joseph accepted the honour of creating

The David Thompson Legacy Art Project, which is approximately 100 paintings that will be reproduced

over a period of six plus years commemorating the epic life and times of David Thompson.

N.A.I.T. commissioned four large portraits of the past Presidents for 2009.

In conjunction with BC Parks as part of a fund-raising project spring 2009

will see the start of a series of paintings on Mt. Assiniboine Park.

Achievements in the last decade:

•  Trout Unlimited Canada selected Joseph as “Artist of the Year” for 2007.

•  The Pastel Society of America, and the Pastel Society of Canada have both elected Joseph a Signature Member.

•  From 2002-2005 Joseph’s work was featured four times in International Artist Magazine.
