John's
interest in art started as a hobby but in '84 he enrolled in oil
painting classes. In 1992 he received an invitation to display
his art at a "Cowboy Poetry Gathering" and now attends
various juried shows throughout the year.
His
emphasis is on landscapes, wildlife and portraits and western themes
that depict the Cowboy, cattle, horses and their environment. He
utilizes acrylics, oil, pastel, and charcoal.
Reference
material is obtained by photographing subject matter at rodeos,
round-ups, the surrounding country side and the prairies.
His
works are in private collections across Canada and Europe. In order
to make his work available to more collectors, he also has limited
edition prints available.
