Youth Arts

Y-Art, Youth-Art, Young Artists Revealing talent and so much more. The youth art show and sale, with 30 entrants and over 80 pieces, that took place on May 9th and 10th, was a profusion of energy, creativity and variety.

From the young people and their families who attended the Friday night reception and continued to meander in throughout Saturday, to the artworks themselves, the individuality and talent was a pleasure to behold.

The aspect of the show that most struck those who attended was the diversity of styles mediums and interests expressed.

Styles ranged through naturalist, cubist, impressionist and pointillism with even a touch of pop-art.

The mediums ran the gamut from pencil, pencil crayon, felts, ink, acrylic, watercolour, oil, clay cardboard and even found materials.
Finally, the themes were as diverse as the young people themselves. Expressions of their lives, from pop idols and comic book hero's to observations of daily activities and raw colour and shapes reflecting their deepest emotions.

As a showcasing and reminder of the wonderful talent of our area youth, the event was an absolute success.
